The Partnership for Pedagogical Leadership in Africa (PedaL) Launch
The Partnership for Pedagogical Leadership in Africa (PedaL) was launched on 6th August,2018 in Nairobi, Kenya. It all began when The Partnership for African Social Governance and Research submitted a proposal in response to the Department for International Development ( DFID) call on Strategic Partnerships for Higher Education Innovation and Reform (SPHEIR), which aims at supporting higher education transformation in Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
PedaL is a project under the umbrella of The Partnership for African Social Governance and Research(PASGR) which is an independent, non-partisan pan-African not-for-profit organisation established in 2011 and located in Nairobi, Kenya. Currently engaged in more than 12 African countries, PASGR works to enhance research excellence in governance and public policy that contributes to the overall well-being of women and men.
In partnership with individual academics and researchers, higher education institutions, research think tanks, civil society organisations, business and policy communities both in the region and internationally, PASGR supports the production and dissemination of policy relevant research; designs and delivers suites of short professional development courses for researchers and policy actors; and facilitates the development of collaborative higher education programmes.
The Partnership for Pedagogical Leadership in Africa (PedaL) will target all 13 Master of Research and Public Policy (MRPP) universities and 3 other universities under the umbrella of the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA). The project focuses on pedagogical training for teaching staff in selected programmes in social sciences, across 4 years.
The launch was attended by different dignitaries and scholarly giants from all over Africa.
